Add Section Numbers to a PDF

Number pages within sections, as A-1, A-2, B-1 and so on.

Runs in your browser

How it works

Give the page where each section starts and every page is numbered within its own section: the first section becomes A-1, A-2, A-3, the second starts again at B-1. This is how exhibit bundles and technical manuals are usually numbered, because it means a section can be revised without renumbering everything after it.

Questions

Why number this way?
So one section can be replaced without renumbering the rest of the document.
What happens to pages before the first section?
They are left unnumbered, and the tool tells you how many.
Can I change the separator?
Yes. A dot or a slash works as well as a dash.
